A to Z Challenge: V is for Valiant

V is for valiant.

Bilbo Baggins came back to help the dwarves in their journey. He didn’t have to—but he did. When Thorin Oakenshield questioned why, Bilbo gave a most valiant answer.

We can sit back in life, knowing who we are, knowing where we’re going, and take comfort in our position, or we can open our eyes to those around us who are searching for the same comfort and know not where to find it. Bilbo was valiant—he chose to put his life in continuous danger so that others could reach home—a place he knew well, a place he knew others deserved to find.
What a great missionary moment!

    1. HI Courtney! Yes, I love Orson Scott Card too. I'd love to meet him one day. Thanks on the encouragement with the A to Z Challenge. It's my first time putting myself out there, and I must say it's been fun.

    2. Congratulations for continuing to do it. A lot of people start, but don't finish. Also this year I found out that the A-Z team is pretty understanding if you get behind. As long as you keep trying to keep up and/or let people know, they are fine. Some people finish up missing letters in May. My hardest thing was keeping up with comments the first year! This year's a little easier, but it's still like the part of a workout where your muscles are burning!

I'm very fond of OSC. I know he gets some flack for his political and religious views, but so what? He's a great writer. I was thinking oh, maybe I shouldn't have brought him up, because maybe you get that comment all the time, in the same way that some people from Minnesota hate hearing about Garrison Keillor.
